About me

I’m a 2022 PhD graduate from the linguistics program at the University of Washington. My research interests are mainly in phonetics and sociolinguistics, and how we can use what we know from both of these fields to improve second language teaching and learning. My doctoral dissertation focused on factors affecting perception of second language Mandarin Chinese. My research agenda is unified by a commitment towards a more equitable linguistics. I am a co-developer of CLOx, a web app designed to help linguists easily transcribe recorded interviews. I am an alumnus of both the UW Phonetics Lab and the UW Sociolinguistics Lab. I have worked as a research assistant on the Pacific Northwest English Project, directed by Alicia Beckford Wassink.

I spend a fair bit of my free time traveling, playing board games, and making desserts.
